Imam Mahdi (as) in Gospel

The Events Leading up to the Appearance of
Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the Gospel

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earth-quakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will be-tray and hate each other, and many false prophets will ap-pear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom
will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew, 24:3-14)

[That day will not come] until the rebellion occurs… (2 Thes-salonians, 2:3)

But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of Jesus Christ fore-told. They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”These are the peo-ple who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the spirit. (Jude, 1:17-19)

For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God

[God is beyond that] nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles…They ex-changed the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things [God is beyond that] rather than the Creator—Who is forever praised. Amen. (Romans, 1:21-25)

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.Instead…they will gather around them a great num-ber of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.(2 Timothy, 4:3-4)

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, There will be… in the last days
treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness, but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.(2 Timothy, 3:1-5)

You will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name [the name of the Prophet Jesus (pbuh)]… Youwill be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. All men will hate you because of me [the Prophet Jesus (pbuh)]… By standing firm, you will gain life. [Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) and his followers will be similarly oppressed.] (Luke, 21:12, 16, 17, 19)

When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.

Then he [the Prophet Jesus (pbuh)] said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.”(Luke, 21:9-11)

There will be signs in the Sun, Moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world… (Luke, 21:25-26)

It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man [the Prophet Jesus (pbuh)] is revealed.(Luke, 17:28-30)

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man [before the Prophet Jesus‘ (pbuh) coming]. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and de-stroyed them all. (Luke, 17:26-27)

[It] was given power to take peace from the earthand to make men slay each other… (Revelation, 6:4)

Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.(Mark, 13:12)

Some of his disciples were remarking about how the Temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another…” (Luke, 21:5-6)

The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her [Babylon*] because no one buys their cargoes any more—car-goes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense… and
olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and car-riages… They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished…’ The mer-chants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment… and cry out: ‘Woe! Woe to
you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glit-tering with gold, precious stones and pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’ Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off. When they see the smoke of her burn-ing, they will exclaim,’Was there ever a city like this great city?’
They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourn-ing cry out: ‘Woe! Woe to you, great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!’… With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again. (Revela-tion, 18:11-21)

*Babylon: The name of an ancient city near Baghdad, the capital of today’s Iraq.

Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. (1 John, 2:18)

And then the lawless one [antichrist] will be revealed, whom…Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and de-stroy by the splendor of his coming. (2 Thessalonians, 2:8)
