1- Divorced women should wait by themselves forthree menstrual cycles; and it is not lawful forthem to conceal what Allah has created in theirwombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day.Their husbands have the right to take them backwithin that time, if they desire to be reconciled.Women possess rights similar to those held overthem to be honoured with fairness; but men havea degree above them. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (2:228)



2- But if a man divorces his wife a third time, she isnot lawful for him after that until she has marriedanother husband. Then if he divorces her, there isnothing wrong in the original couple gettingback together provided they think they will re-main within Allah’s limits. These are Allah’s lim-its which he has made clear to people whoknow. (2:230)



3- When you divorce women and they are near theend of their waiting period, do not prevent themfrom marrying their first husbands if they havemutually agreed to it with correctness and cour-tesy. This is an admonition for those of you whobelieve in Allah and the Last Day. That is betterand purer for you. Allah knows and you do notknow. (2:232)


4- If you fear a breach between a couple, send anarbiter from his people and an arbiter from herpeople. If the couple desire to put things right,Allah will bring about a reconciliation betweenthem. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (4:35)



5- If a woman fears cruelty or aversion on her hus-band’s part, there is nothing wrong in the couplebecoming reconciled. Reconciliation is better.But people are prone to selfish greed. If you dogood and guard against evil, Allah is aware ofwhat you do. (4:128)



6- She (Ibrahim’s wife) said, ‘Woe is me! How can Igive birth when I am an old woman and my hus-band here is an aged man? This is indeed an as-tonishing thing!’ (11:72)


7- Say to the believing women that they shouldlower their eyes and guard their chastity and notdisplay their adornments–except for what nor-mally shows–and draw their head-coveringsacross their breasts. They should only displaytheir adornments to their husbands or their fa-thers or their husbands’ fathers, or their sons ortheir husbands’ sons or their brothers or theirbrothers’ sons or their sisters’ sons or theirwomen or those they own as slaves or their maleattendants who have no sexual desire or childrenwho still have no awareness of women’s privateparts. Nor should they stamp their feet so thattheir hidden ornaments are known. Turn to Allahevery one of you, believers, so that hopefully youwill have success. (24:31)



8- Allah has heard the words of the woman whodisputes with you about her husband and laysher complaint before Allah. Allah hears the twoof you talking together. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (58:1)
